6 Tips to Boost Your Organic Traffic

Though almost any type of traffic to your website is good traffic, the kind of web traffic that is best is organic traffic. However, it’s also the most difficult kind of traffic to get. Here are 6 tips on increasing your organic traffic:

Blog!

By blogging about relevant topics frequently, your brand can easily become an industry resource. Just as you likely have industry resources you check for news and information, others may eventually start looking to your brand if you are providing frequently updated blogs. Posting frequent blogs also transfers well to search engines, as they love websites who are consistently adding new content to the Internet.  Though it’s important to post often and on a schedule, it is crucial that the content you are posting is high quality. Posting low-quality content does not fare well for your website and will not turn your brand into an industry resource. Focus on creating content that those in your industry will find useful or informative, and do it with your own brand persona so that you stand out from others.

Write great meta descriptions.

A large majority of websites don’t optimize their meta data. Even if you have meta descriptions and titles created, it’s important to ensure that they are properly optimized. Some tips for perfect meta data:

  • Length: A meta description should be no more than 155 characters. If it is more, your sentence and content will be cut off, resulting in the possibility of your point not being made. Titles should be a maximum of 77 characters long.
  • Keywords: Just like your website’s content, the meta descriptions should be keyword optimized Your meta descriptions are essentially a person’s first impression of your brand and what it has to offer.
  • Each one should be unique: Don’t get lazy with meta descriptions after you’ve written a few good ones. It’s important that each individual page has its own unique meta description. Not only does it give you a better chance of having your pages clicked on through search results, but it also makes your site look better and fuller to search engines.

Consistently update and create content.

Ever heard content is king? That’s because it is. With that being said, the content you are pushing out should be of high quality and implement keywords you want to rank for. It needs to be useful to those that visit your website. At the same time it’s important to not post keyword-stuffed content because that will wind up getting your website in trouble with Google.

Link internally

As you post fresh content and blogs, it’s a good idea to link internally to other pages and blog posts on your website. This drives traffic to other parts of your website and keeps visitors on your website for a longer time, therefore decreasing your bounce rate.

Contribute to industry resources.

You are most likely familiar with your industry resources, and probably often turn to them for updates and news that you care about. Many of these industry resources allow brands to contribute content and to discuss the content that they’ve shared. With that being said, it’s important to make your brand known among these industry resources so they can potentially link back to your site so that you gain some recognition as a quality resource.

Post on social media.

By far one of the most effective ways to increase organic traffic to your website is to utilize social media. Sharing your content on social media outlets by hashtagging it and sending it to people who may be interested in it not only builds a following on your social media accounts, but additionally can drive traffic to your website.
