Have a contest or giveaway<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the season of giving, people love getting! Have fun holiday contests and create your own hashtag so that consumers are happy and your brand gains some recognition. A great example of this is Starbucks current red cup contest. They are having customers decorate their cup and tag them in it. With this, not only do people feel special to the brand but if you additionally give out rewards, they are more likely to tell their friends about it!<\/p>\n

Adjust social media posting times<\/strong><\/p>\n

Posting on social media should have a highly methodical schedule<\/a> behind it, especially during the holidays. Typically, the weeks of holidays are relatively dead. People are too busy to check social media around these times. It\u2019s best to start marketing for the holidays on social around the second weekend of November. This way, consumers have recognized your brand by the time they are ready to do their holiday shopping. Make sure to recognize off days for all holidays, not just Christmas. If people are celebrating, they are less likely to be on Facebook or Twitter.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t post too much about your company celebrations<\/strong><\/p>\n

Though it\u2019s important to celebrate within your company during the holidays for team building, it\u2019s also important to not share too much on social. A few photos is great as it shows how great of a work environment you provide employees, but as the party goes on you may want to refrain from tainting your company\u2019s reputation. A team photo is a great idea, but after your team has had some adult beverages, it may be best to refrain from further posting on social media outlets.<\/p>\n

Stay neutral<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s okay to celebrate a specific holiday within your business, but when it comes to social media advertising it\u2019s best to stay as neutral as possible. \u00a0For example, it makes sense to have sales for Cyber Monday or Black Friday and to post about them, but when the time comes, ensure that you state Happy Holidays, so that all consumers are included.<\/p>\n

Give!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps one of the most important parts of the holiday season is giving. There are many holiday charities out there for your business to donate to, or you can come up with some kind of charity for yourself. For example, for every product or service a customer purchases from your business, you can donate a percentage to those in need. Or, you can take donations to go to specific charities. There is so much opportunity to make a difference, and during the holiday season if customers see that you care more about giving that making money, you will shine among other brands in your industry.<\/p>\n
